Trudge up the soft, sandy mountain at Cape Kiwanda; The view is worth hiking straight up at what feels like a 90-degree angle. Once back on level ground, head to Pelican Pub and Brewing. The waterfront pub has been around for 16 years and opens at 8 AM daily (perfect excuse to start drinking earlier, especially if you’ve rented a beach house). If you need a taste before heading to the coast, check Pelican out at the Portland Fruit Beer Festival on June 6-8.
