We were recently going through our traffic stats, trying to game the system recognize trends to help us best optimize our content for our readers, and we came across an interesting pattern. We had a huge visitor spike on December 25, exploding in the late-afternoon, right around the time Christmas dinner would traditionally finish up.
It appears that after a joyous day of gifts and wrapping paper and kisses and thank-yous and handshakes and cheek-pinches, folks are indeed looking for a drink! Granted, we stoked the flames with our round-up articles for each city, in which we listed all the bars throwing open their doors on Christmas Day.
So, thanks to those generous publicans who tore themselves away from Aunt Edna, Uncle Joe and Cousin Billy to welcome holiday escapees into their establishments. By the looks of The Drink Nation traffic, you provided a much-desired service. Catch you at the bar next Christmas?
