In an attempt at making their food more palatable (or boost sales to compete with casual dining), certain fast food restaurants have started selling beer in a few select locations.
The idea is nothing new, as most people know. European locations have been serving up beer to patrons for decades (McBeer, anyone?). However, the decision has many debating the inherent risks of serving alcohol in establishments specifically geared toward hasty service.
Drive in dining chain, Sonic, will start selling beer and wine in two south Florida locations. Burger King has changed up a few of their build-your-own-burger “Whopper Bars” to include beer in three U.S. locations, as well as Spain, Singapore and Venezuela. There, it will sell its brew for just over four dollars a pop.
Last year coffee mega-chain, Starbucks, started serving local beers in a Seattle location, in a similar attempt to boost sales by tapping into a different market.
In South Florida's “Whopper Bars” allow you can purchase macro beers such as Budweiser to compliment your balls of grease. A food pairing likely to leave you clutching your stomach in agony the next morning.
