Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel! is a brewery and brewpub located in Montreal, QC, Canada churning out a variety of beers in numerous styles. Rosée D’hibiscus, according to the brewery, is a “soft-spoken” wheat ale brewed with hibiscus flowers. It has been awarded several Canadian beer accolades since being born at the Dieu Du Ciel! brewpub in 2006.
Poured from a 12oz bottle, the beer has a distinct pink color similar to the innards of a grapefruit. The smell is very light and flowery with small hints of wheat without a forward yeast scent. Subtle spices can be detected too but as with the other aromas, nothing is forceful or out front. The taste is very light and refreshing like many wheat beers but features a slight bit of a spice and a sour cherry finish to present a unique flavor profile. After each sip this brew finishes very dry with no lingering coating or citrus. This makes the entire pour very enjoyable and satisfying, especially in warmer weather.
Rosée D’hibiscus is a very refreshing, warm weather beer that can either be sipped throughout the day or as a light starter brew before diving into darker flavors. This is my first taste of what Dieu Du Ciel! has to offer but if this beer is any indication, they have much to offer in their extensive line of brews.
