On the front of the can you’ll find the words “Very Rare Blend” concaved across the top, just above the company’s crest. On a can of a separate variety also sold are the words “Extra Special Blend”. It’s up in the air whether or not there is anything “Rare” or “Special” about this particular type of Whisky, except that it comes in a 12oz can.
That’s right; Panama based Scottish Spirits Ltd. is now selling two brands of blended Whisky in 12oz cans, which equates to about eight shots. With 8 shots of 80proof liquor in a can, you might not want to try shot gunning these at a frat party.
It has been a trend lately by alcohol producers to create as abnormal of a beverage as possible. The past few years alone have shown us bacon flavored vodka, whipped cream flavored vodka, alcoholic whipped cream, 40 proof chocolate milk and of course, the ever popular and much controversial alcoholic energy drinks.
This isn’t the first time Scottish Spirits, which has been producing alcohol for over a century, has tried to tap into the Ripley’s Believe it or not sector, as is evident with the advent of their alcohol free whisky, which leaves much of us asking…what’s the point?
Back to the cans though, according to them, this lightweight and recyclable whisky can is great for outdoor gatherings, and is just the right amount to be shared with three friends. You might get some odd looks drinking this at a friend’s barbecue, but only because you won’t be wearing any pants.
