An apparently lonely and possibly drunken Bridgeport, Connecticut man called 911 three times in one day in an attempt to have police go out and purchase beer for him. We can only hope, for this guy’s sake, that beer delivery is not available in Connecticut. The caller, named Robert Roberge, was charged with misusing the 911-system and was freed after posting a $500 bond. If he did it to avoid a drunken-romp in his car, then more power to him, but he probably would have been better off making the same request to a pizza delivery person.
The man is said to have called the emergency number 79 times since the beginning of the year and all have been false alarms. The jury’s still out on whether or not this is more saddening than the man who was recently arrested for the 48th time for huffing paint. In another instance of one of his so-called “emergencies”, the 911-abuser offered the authorities $20 and change to “sit with him”. If this story is any indication, it appears that a “Drink Bridgeport” may be correct and necessary. Roberge also may want to familiarize himself with a dating site or two.
