The female owned and operated Lineup Brewery has released Bïeryoncé, a German pilsner named after and dedicated to our one true queen, Beyoncé Knowles Carter.
You’re going to be "Drunk In Love" with the beer brewed by Kararina Martinez, the head brewer and co-owner of the Brooklyn-based brewery. In an interview with Bon Appetit, she said the beer was first brewed for an Oktoberfest party that was on the same night as a Beyoncé concert. Unfortunately, Martinez was unable to attend the concert due to work and said, “I was terribly sad about it, so I decided to name it in her honor. I’m also a Hispanic, woman-owned and operated business, so I really look up to her and the strength and empowerment she promotes with women.”
This also isn’t the first beer the ladies at Lineup have named after female pop culture figures—they also have a New England IPA called "Tammy 1" in honor of NBC’s Parks and Rec. Martinez also plans on naming a future beer after the "Irreplaceable" Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, another queen in her own right.
"Bow Down" to Lineup Brewing for paying homage to Sasha Fierce’s 2013 album with their first can release’s can art. The can features a matte black background and “Bïeryoncé” written in a bubbly pink, just like the self-titled album. And as far as flavor, we’re not talking "Lemonade" here - this pilsner is a nice 5% ABV with a "Flawless" amber color and malty finish.
"Hold Up"? Where can I actually get this beer you may ask? You’ll need to get into "Formation" at one of these NYC bottle shops and bars: Beer Karma, The Ginger Man, Malt and Mold, or Pine Box Rock Shop.
So go and seek out the Beyoncé mélange. "Pray You Catch Me" doing the same, because we won’t let this beer be the "Best Thing I Never Had."
UPDATE: Queen Bey has released an official royal document ordering Lineup to cease and desist production of her namesake bier. I hate to say this makes me one "Broken Hearted Girl".
