The Petaluma based Lagunitas Brewing Co. is embracing California’s new legalization of weed the best way it can: by brewing a cannabis infused ale, the LA Times reports. Working with CannaCraft Inc., a cannabis-extract manufacturing facility in nearby Santa Rosa, Lagunitas created the SuperCritical Ale, flavored with terpenes extracted from marijuana, an aromatic compound that is also found in hops.
Don’t expect to get buzzed any different from normal though, as the SuperCritical Ale doesn’t contain any THC or CBD. And don’t expect to see that anytime soon—while California, and a number of other states, legalized marijuana, it’s still illegal on the federal level, and any brewery producing a THC infused beer could quickly lose its license, especially considering our attorney general. Still, for those of you looking for the mellowing effects of marijuana and the flavor of beer, Lagunitas returned the favor to CannaCraft, helping them design vape products with aromatics derived from beer.
