Do you love yoga? Do you also love beer? Luckily for you, beer yoga is now a thing.
It all started in Germany by a yoga instructor named Jhula, who had first seen the practice of Beer Yoga at the infamous Burning Man Festival, according to Ex Berliner.
As explained on the official BeerYoga website: “BeerYoga is the marriage of two great loves – beer and yoga. Both are centuries-old therapies for body, mind and soul. The joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of yoga compliment each other, and make for an energizing experience.”
The class does just that. While participants strike traditional yoga poses, they also take a sip of a refreshing brew or balance a bottle on their head for added zen. The beer of choice for Jhula’s classes are Radlers (which tend to have low ABVs).
If you have plans to visit Germany soon, the class is usually booked weeks in advance. The founders have also taken their practice down to Australia.
Don’t be surprised if you see a spin off in a couple weeks hosted by your local brewery, since really, everything is better accompanied by a cold beer.
