Alton Brown recently shared an interesting post on social media describing his new “go-to beverage”, and it’s not a fancy new cocktail he just invented. Brown celebrated his 53rd birthday on July 30, and, as a gift to his body, he has decided to refrain from drinking alcohol for a year.
So what, you ask, is this new, non-alcoholic drink of choice for Mr. Brown? Sparkling water and aromatic bitters.
Some people might argue that it’s not actually a non-alcoholic drink since most bitters do contain some alcohol, and Brown addressed that in his post saying, “we’re talking about 8-10 drops here so I think I’m good.” A few drops of bitters certainly doesn’t make a glass of seltzer a cocktail.
We happened to have some bitters and club soda laying around, so we gave this beverage a try ourselves. The verdict? We approve. If you like the spicy, earthiness of bitters, chances are good you’ll also enjoy this creation. Let us know on Facebook or Twitter what you think of Alton Brown’s new “recipe”.
