Visitors to the Dogfish Inn might notice it’s distance from both the brewery itself-- which is stationed about 20 minutes away in Milton-- and the original brewpub, about a 15 minute drive away in Rehoboth Beach. While the added Dogfish Inn perks-- like pre-scheduled tours of the brewery and access to brewpub reservations-- are appreciated, the drives themselves were a noticeable snag for those looking to put away a few of the brewery’s varieties.
Until now.
With the first year of ownership behind them, Sam Calagione and the Dogfish Inn gang have announced an all-day excursion package for Inn visitors. The All-INNclusive (see what they did there?) day out gives guests access to all that is great about the Dogfish vacation. It starts at 10 AM with a chauffeured ride to the Dogfish brewery where you’ll get a private tour of the brewhouse, wood-aging room, and relatively new bottling line as well as beer samples in the tasting room.
The bus then takes guests over to Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach and has seats saved for you for the lunch rush. The brewpub is where Dogfish Head got its start and still serves up beers that you can only find at that location-- like their well-known summer seasonal Choc Lobster. The tour ends back in Lewes at 3:30 PM, which gives you plenty of time to check out a local restaurant-- might we suggest sticking with the Dogfish theme and walking over to Half Full, the pizza bar where the brewery’s 61 Minute was born?-- or to hang out by the Dogfish Inn fire pit and catch the sunset.
The whole package comes in at $45 for the full day and includes all the driving, tour, tasting and a guaranteed lunch seat, which, if you’ve been to the Dogfish Head restaurant in the summer you know is worth that price alone. It’s only available for Dogfish Inn guests and maxes out at 14 people a day, but it’s a great way to skip the car. If you'll be staying at the Inn, call 302-644-8292 to reserve a seat.
