Dallas Host the Biggest Beer Fest in Texas This Saturday, April 11

Saturday, April 11, marks the biggest beer festival in the Lone Star State. The Big Texas Beer Fest in Dallas will feature over 106 breweries and over 400 beers.

Big Texas Beer Fest began when two beer-loving newlyweds attended the 2010 Great American Beer Festival in Denver. They wanted the same sort of foam and frivolity in Dallas as well as a chance to sample unique and rare beers and help out a charity at the same time. This beer extravaganza is only four years old, but much like the Big D, the event just keeps getting bigger.

The Big Texas Beer Fest is unique for featuring exclusive kegs and rare beers with a focus on the emerging North Texas craft beer scene. Because brewers don’t always know when their beers will be ready, the full beer list for the festival will not be released until one week before the event. Seeing as the event is only a few days away, you can take a peek at the list right here. There will also be food trucks, local artisans and live music on an outdoor stage.

The festival will be held at the Fair Park Automobile Building at 1010 1st Avenue. General Admission tickets are $39 and include the souvenir tasting cup and a tasting card. VIP Tickets are $65, which will get beer connoisseurs in one hour early to sample the rare and one-off beers before everyone else. VIPs also get a dedicated entrance with in-and-out access and besides the acrylic cup, VIPs also get a commemorative glass. Everyone is invited to join in the Founder’s Toast on the outdoor stage at 5 PM.

Something to be aware of for those new to the state of Texas: There is no “unlimited tasting” allowed by law in Texas. The maximum amount of beer Texas allows to be sold at one time is 24 ounces. Ticket holders receive a punch card for twelve 2-ounce tastings of any beer they like. Guests can then purchase additional punch cards for $2 each. The state of Texas requires the organizers charge something for every 24 ounces of beer.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit the North Texas Food Bank, a charity that the founders not only support, but also volunteer at in their own spare time. Hotel deals and transportation options are available. To learn more or to purchase tickets, visit bigtexasbeerfest.com.
