Vail/Beaver Creek ski resorts in Colorado announced that Sierra Nevada Brewing Company of Chico, CA, will be the official beer sponsor of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. The world’s best skiers will descend on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains for this 2-week event in February.
While the ski runs of Vail and Beaver Creek will host the world championships, the town of Vail will host spectators from around the world. Ski (and beer) fans will be able to enjoy the beers of Sierra Nevada at the Winter Beer Camp to be located on the International Bridge in Vail Village. The Beer Camp will open from 3 to 9 PM each day of the competition and will feature a variety of Sierra Nevada beers including rare releases and instructional tasting events to help educate the fans who are new to American craft beer. The brewery will also produce a very special beer made just for the championships and will only be served in Vail and Beaver Creek during the event.
“We are very excited to be able to partner with Sierra Nevada on the 2015 World Championships,” says Ceil Folz, President of the Vail Valley Foundation and head of the 2015 World Championships Organizing Committee. “Not only do they bring a tremendous product to our guests, but they fit perfectly with our philosophy of “Americanizing” the sport of ski racing.”
“Mountains are an inspiring playground for me and our brewery has always rallied behind athletes who push themselves to their limits on lofty peaks,” says Sierra Nevada found Ken Grossman. “The World Championships will fill Vail and Beaver Creek with skiing talent and we’re excited to share in such a special experience.”
Scheduled from February 2-15, 2015, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will showcase athletes from over 70 countries with an estimated 750 million worldwide television viewers. Cheer on US Ski Team members Mikaela Shiffrin, Bode Miller, Julia Mancuso, Lindsay Vonn, Ted Ligety, Jared Goldberg, Brennan Rubie and Tim Jitloff as they make their run for glory in 2015.
