Looks like Victory Brewing Company is latest to jump aboard the craft can bandwagon. The Downingtown, Pennsylvania based maker of Prima Pils, Hop Devil and Golden Monkey announced today it will install a canning line at the still new, 140,000 square foot state-of-the-art production brewery it brought on line in Parkesburg last year.
Though details are few, a Victory rep told the Drink Nation that the decision was based on consumer demand, and that the first cold one to roll off the line wrapped in aluminum will be its Summer Love Ale. And while the company is being cagey about a timeframe for this canning expansion, the tentative first product rollout indicates that Victory cans are unlikely to begin popping up on store shelves before the start of summer 2015.
In a prepared statement, Victory co-founder Bill Covaleski elaborates a little:
“The Parkesburg facility was built with the idea that it would enable us as creative brewers to expand our brand in a way our thirsty fans would appreciate. It only seems to make sense that the first Victory brand to be found in a can should be Summer Love Ale since it embodies all the fun and freedom summertime has to offer and a can is fitting for so many outdoor activities that come with that time of year.”
