California Roadtrip: A Drinking Tour of Mammoth Lakes |
The world famous Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is only four miles away. At almost 11,053 feet above sea level Mammoth Mountain is the highest ski resort in California and one of the top 15 highest in North America. The area has 3,500 acres of skiable terrain and receives over 400 inches of snow a year. In the summer, the mountain is taken over by mountain bikers. For those who like to play in the water, the 10-odd waterways of the Lakes Basin area is just a trolley ride away with fishing, water sports, hiking, biking, camping, and horseback riding in the summer and snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice fishing in the winter.
Mammoth Village is the area that surrounds the town ski gondola and is filled with restaurants, lodging, and shops. Consider the village an ideal place for a compact pub crawl.
