Flying Fish Brewing to Release F. U. Sandy Beer for Charity

New Jersey was hit hard last year during Superstorm Sandy. To assist their seaside state-mates with recovery efforts, Flying Fish Brewing Co. founder Gene Muller and head brewer Casey Hughes have crafted a hybrid wheat beer/pale ale, from which all proceeds will go directly to charity. The name of the beer? Forever Unloved Sandy, which shortens easily into the more cheeky “F. U.”

A 100-keg batch is due to be released this February, and will be available on draft only in the New Jersey and Philadelphia region. Sales of the beer will generate $50,000, which will be made available to a grassroots, NJ-based nonprofit chosen by Flying Fish fans via social media.

The beer itself is made with a half-and-half blend of two row pale malt and American white wheat. The hops were donated by the American Dwarf Hop Association, and are an experimental blend never before used in a beer. Hughes’ tasting notes promise a tropical nose full of mangos and guavas.

Stay tuned for more information on when you’ll get a chance to taste F. U., as well as how to vote on the charity of choice.
