Good Ad/Bad Ad: Van Damme, Coors Light & Leopard Underpants

by The Drink Nation on Feb 26, 2012 in Culture

Have you ever seen the way a man penguin walks after an intense mating season? No? Us neither, but according to Jean Claude Van Damme, that’s what happened to him, 22 years ago. Waddling naked through the snow, his leopard skin underpants frozen tight, “that was the closest I’ve ever been to the ice cold refreshment of a Coors Light,” he tells us from a mountainous peak in the Rockies.

The minute-long ad was produced by VCCP and released last summer as part of the “Closest to Cold” campaign. What do you think, did Molson Coors’ U.K. division score a win with this tongue-in-cheek spot, or did the whole thing just increase the laughability of their watery brand? In other words, is it a GOOD AD or a BAD AD?

Watch the video above, then enter your vote below. (Feel free to add a comment to explain what the ad means to you.)

Good Ad or Bad Ad?

GOOD: Van Damme making fun of himself is a boon for any brand0%
BAD: The whole thing is absurd and makes Coors Light look dumb0%
