Absolut Brooklyn

Absolut Brooklyn

Beginning with 2007’s Absolut New Orleans, Absolut has released new city-themed vodka each year.  2010 brings us a new treat: Absolut Brooklyn.

Film-maker and native Brooklynite Spike Lee was approached by Absolut to head up the branding, and he pulled out all the stops. The bottle, designed by Lee, depicts a stoop reminiscent of the ones he grew up on. In addition, Lars Olsson Smith's seal has been decked out in the garb of Mars Blackmon, Mr. Lee's alter ego from the 1986 film "She's Gotta Have It."  $50,000 of the product's profits will go to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Served neat, the vodka is quite palatable, with a clean taste and hints of red apple and ginger. The flavors aren’t overpowering, and work harmoniously together to create a warm, slightly spicy taste.

As a mixer, we felt obligated to give it the “Cosmo Test.” We had some friends over for some cocktails, and had to resist the urge to finish the bottle. The flavors hold up very well, and are quite complimentary to fruit and sweeter imbibes.

While we sip and savor the flavors of Absolut Brooklyn, we wait feverishly for Absolut Philadelphia. Be sure to try it soon, as it is a limited run!
