Anheuser-Busch Shuts Down Beer Production & Gives Away Water for Houston Hurricane Relief Efforts

by Alexander Frane on Aug 29, 2017 in Beer

Anheuser-Busch, brewer of Budweiser, has shut down its Cartersville, GA, operations temporarily, halting beer production and instead filling 155,000 cans with drinking water to aid victims of Hurricane Harvey. A truckload of cans were scheduled to arrive the at the American Red Cross facility in Baton Rouge, LA, the morning of Monday, August 28, while two more trucks are headed to the American Red Cross facility in Arlington, TX, in the coming days.

This isn’t the first time the Cartersville brewery’s production has switched from beer to water for relief efforts--earlier times include canning water for victims of Hurricanes Sandy, Matthew, and Katrina, and for firefighters battling wildfires in Washington.

Anheuser-Busch has three facilities in Houston, and confirmed via press release that all 1,100 or so employees were safe from the storm.
