Uber Philly Offers Free Rides Home from Center City Sips, June 6

While Philly Beer Week may be at the forefront of local drinkers’ minds these days, another classic Philadelphia promotion pops off this week. June 6 is the launch of Center City Sips, the yearly Wednesday happy hour organized by the Center City District.

Each Wednesday through August 29, over 90 bars and restaurants will offer $5 cocktails, $4 wine, $3 beer and half-priced appetizers from 5–7 PM. With deals like those, it’s easy to toss back a few, but happily, on June 6, you’ll have an easy way out: Uber Philly, the black-car service currently in soft-launch here, is offering free rides home!

All you have to do is sign up with Uber, download their smartphone app, and request a car using special promo code “FirstCitySips.” All rides that depart from the CC Sips bars between 5 PM–midnight will be completely free. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the on-demand car company, this is a perfect opportunity. (Note: you must enter the promo code before requesting a car in order to receive the discount.)
