Philadelphia Magazine & Foobooz are reporting that Gordana Kostovski, formerly of Volvér, is the new sommelier at Tod Wentz’s East Passyunk spot, Townsend.
Kostovski is a somewhat big name in the wine world, and has stepped up to the plate at Townsend to fill in for general manager and sommelier Lauren Harris, who’s heading out for maternity leave. She also happens to be married to Tod Wentz, and when PhillyMag spotted her at Townsend’s table during their Philly Cooks event, she confirmed that she had made the switch.
Kostovski’s awards and accolades include two Awards of Excellence from Wine Spectator (including one Best Of Award of Excellence), a well-praised wine program at Volvér, and recently, the Wall Street Journal named her as a driving force behind a popular New York wine distributor bringing his wares to Pennsylvania.
Volvér will certainly continue carrying on Kostovski’s wine legacy, but we look forward to seeing what she does at Townsend as well.
