Southwark's New Owners to Open Wine Bar, Restaurant Ambra, Next Door
The hands-changing at Southwark that happened earlier this summer -- specifically, the sale of the restaurant and space by Kip and Sheri Waide to Chef Chris D’Ambro and fiancee Marina De Oliveira -- is literally old news by now, but there’s still more to come from this venerable space at 4th & Bainbridge.
Very few details are available as of yet, but D’Ambro and De Oliveira do plan to utilize a smaller part of Southwark’s existing space to open a wine bar called Restaurant Ambra, which will seat about 24 people and serve as Southwark’s sister restaurant.
Ambra will certainly be a welcome addition to the neighborhood and to Southwark itself, which has always been known for making a great cocktail - so once Ambra opens up, after a stiff Manhattan and a delicious meal at Southwark, you can always stop off at Restaurant Ambra for a cozy nightcap.
We’ll report again when we have more concrete details, so keep an eye out for Ambra announcements.
