Federal Distillery Set to Open in North Philadelphia

Kensington will be getting its very own distillery - Federal Distillery, the recently-created home of Stateside Vodka, will be setting up shop on Cecil B. Moore Avenue sometime in the next few months. There’s no confirmed opening date as of yet though Stateside Vodka’s Facebook page assured someone recently that the liquor itself will be rolled out in Center City restaurants and liquor stores “by mid-October.” There’s also some pictures that show a pretty bare-bones building situation, indicating that the distillery might still be a ways away.

The brainchild of Clement Pappas and brothers Matt and Bryan Quigley (with Matt serving as the head distiller), Federal Distillery will produce mostly their signature Stateside Vodka at first, preferring to focus on making great vodka locally, using a GMO-free corn base and distilling their vodka seven times before bottling it. According to Foobooz, the three decided to open the distillery when a clever mutual friend “accidentally” left the Quigley brothers’ business plan laying around at Pappas’ birthday party, and the project took off in a big way from there.

You can still taste Stateside Vodka before the distillery itself opens - a 750ml bottle will sell for $27.99, so keep an eye on your local liquor store shelves to snap up both the bottle itself and some well-earned bragging rights about “discovering” it before any of your friends.
