New York's Best Places to Grab Pizza and a Pint

What’s New York City if not the best place in the US to enjoy washing down some pizza with a pint of beer? New York’s famous for its tasty dollar (and up) slices, but not every pizza spot offers refreshing, alcoholic beverages to go with the tomatoes and cheese. The following do, making for great places to sit down with your friends, split a pitcher and stay a while over a whole pie…
Bushwick’s famed pizza spot boasts an amazing outdoor space where those waiting for the popular food can sit back in front of a (cult classic) movie with a drink in hand. These drinks range from specialty cocktails (at $11 a pop) to coffee and wine, but if you’re looking for beer, you’ve got plenty of options. Bud cans go for $4 while pitchers on draft range from $17 (Blue Point Toasted Lager) to $26 (Peekskill Eastern Standard). (261 Moore St., Brooklyn; 718-417-1118)
With pitchers on the pricier side at $30, Co. marks a more upscale option if you’re looking for pizza and beer. They take the food seriously here, though, with various toast and bread options (yup, that’s two different sections), so you know the dough’s got to be good. If you didn’t already take it seriously, the place also has 14 different kinds of pizza on its menu. (230 9th Ave.; 212-243-1105)
With locations in the East Village and Williamsburg, this pizza spot targets the crowd that will show up at midnight to (keep) drink (ing) and order a slice or two or three…There’s a list of affordable red and white wines with reserve bottles costing a bit more, but still only $50 to $120 each. When it comes to pizza and beer in NYC, you can’t not mention Crocodile Lounge. It’s pretty hard to find a bar that makes drunk people’s dreams come true by giving out free pizza for every beer purchased. This may call into question the value of the pizza, but the resounding vote seems to be, get over it. It’s hard to mess up pizza, and though Crocodile Lounge’s free slices might not be worthy of commendation on Food Network, they’re definitely still worthy of your mouth. This place is serious about pizza (there are also locations on the Upper East Side and Astoria). The calzones and garlic knots will draw you in by the nose, as well. There’s a full beer and wine bar to go with these thick, greasy slices, too. (17 Clinton St.; 646-454-1262)
This spot has blown up in the sense that there’s often a line out the door…but that’s a good sign, right? Plus, the line moves quickly. The artichoke slice is what the place is famous for (could you guess?) and for a reason. You can grab a beer with your food and drink it casually, without any frills, like table service. (328 E 14th St.; 212-228-2004)
There’s no denying that the pizza here is expensive, but it’s also good. Beer and wine are on the menu, and there are locations in Brooklyn and Queens, as well. (656 6th Ave.; 646-484-5665)
